Norman Lear says the new One Day At A Time will hit Netflix in January

According to Vulture, TV icon Norman Lear announced at the recent premiere of the documentary Norman Lear: Just Another Version Of You that his revival of ‘70s sitcom One Day At A Time will premiere on Netflix this January. This new version will revolve around a Cuban-American family, including a recently separated mom who is raising her two kids with her Cuban immigrant mother, who will be played by Rita Moreno. The mother will be played Six Feet Under and ER’s Justina Machado. Lear says that filming is still going on, with him referencing the relative weirdness of the Netflix model by pointing out that “you make 13 before they air.” He also says that the new One Day At A Time is “altogether different, and it’s fabulous” just in case anyone who still remembers the original was worried that this reboot would be largely similar and disappointing.
