Nostalgia takes to the seas as the “I Love The ’90s” tour launches its own cruise
Ah, the celebrity music cruise: There’s just no better way to end up in an awkward staring contest across the infinite dessert trolley with the bassist from Sugar Ray while the guys from 311 politely wait to grab their pudding plate. Now, the members of the nostalgically lucrative “I Love The ‘90s” tour—including Kid’N Play, Vanilla Ice, Salt N Pepa, Naughty By Nature, and more—have announced that they’re getting in on the high-seas action, too, with the “Ship-Hop” music cruise scheduled to set sail in January of 2018. (To crib from David Foster Wallace, we can’t help but think of it as “A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Shoop Ba-Doop Again”.)
Tickets for the cruise go on sale tomorrow, and start at $799. That gets you a four day trip on the “floating house party” as it makes its way from Miami to Key West and Cozumel. Planned activities include meet and greets, numerous concerts, and the usual cruise ship combinations of lethargy, gluttony, and floating decadence, now with an ironically hip ’90s veneer.
