Now is the time to revisit the Community video game

Remember Journey To The Center Of Hawkthorne, the Community video game based on “Digital Estate Planning” that debuted on Reddit about three months ago? It was pretty threadbare back then, with a multitude of costumes but nothing to do aside from jump on hippies. But after a few months of the Reddit community tinkering with a multitude of add-ons, it’s become an even more intriguing (if still bug-heavy) real-world extension of the episode. Now you can try out new playable levels like the Valley Of Laziness and Gay Island, complete with chiptune soundtracks, even more costumes from your favorite episodes of Community, and additional characters like Vice Dean Layborne, Fat Neil, and big-time celebrity Luis Guzman. The most exciting new feature is the addition of a Greendale environment outside of the study room, complete with a dorm, classrooms, and an administration building. Easter eggs abound, from being able to turn a hallway with the Greendale Human Being into a rave thanks to a secret light switch, a hidden wardrobe level in Dean Pelton’s office, and even a cleverly tucked away nod to the unfilmed scene that caused the Dan Harmon/Chevy Chase dustup, which involves playing catch with the disembodied head of Cornelius Hawkthorne. If you haven’t taken a look since the fledgling game debuted online, now is the time to give it another spin to check out how much progress has been made.
