Now it's Mad Men's Vincent Kartheiser's turn to get a movie

The slow influx of Mad Men’s ensemble onto the big screen continues, with yesterday’s report that Jared Harris will play Moriarty followed by today’s announcement that Vincent Kartheiser, a.k.a Ol’ Slippery Pete Campbell, has joined the cast of Andrew Niccol’s forthcoming sci-fi thriller opposite Amanda Seyfried and Justin Timberlake. Kartheiser will play Seyfried’s father—which is momentarily confusing for at the least next few words, until you hear that the story takes place in a future society where no one ages past 25. “So it’s like L.A.!” is what I would say if I were Chelsea Handler. Anyway, Kartheiser plays the wealthy creator of the time thingamajig system who’s forced to choose between it and his love for Seyfried (for reasons the announcement does not fully explain) when she’s kidnapped by Timberlake’s “rebel from the ghetto” after he’s falsely accused of murdering another man for his time. Sounds like a little bit of Logan’s Run, a dash of Niccol’s own Gattaca, and a drop or two of 1955’s The Fast And The Furious (or, if you prefer, 1994’s The Chase). The film previously carried the moniker I’m.mortal until everyone realized that it was terrible; it’s currently untitled.
