Now The Chronicles Of Narnia movies are getting the (re)boot
The Chronicles Of Narnia are dead. Long live The Chronicles Of Narnia. Mark Gordon—whose production company, along with The C.S. Lewis Company, acquired the rights to C.S. Lewis’ classic, didactic fantasy novel series from The Walden Group in 2013—has revealed that when the next Narnia film, The Silver Chair, ultimately reaches theaters, it will not be as the fourth installment in the old series (last seen in 2010), but the first installment of a new, gloriously resurrected series.
“No, it’s all going to be a brand new franchise,” Gordon tells Collider. “All original. All original characters, different directors, and an entire new team that this is coming from.” He later clarified that the “original characters” would still be culled from Lewis’ books, and not skateboarding hip-hop wizards or whatever the focus groups are into these days.
Though The Silver Chair book, which takes place several decades after The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, does not feature Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie from The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe, it does have several holdover characters from Dawn Treader, including Eustace Scrubb (previously played by Will Poulter), and, of course, Aslan the Jesus Lion (voiced by Liam Neeson). It’s unknown if David Magee’s screenplay will actually replace these characters for the sake of rebootment, or if Gordon was simply being hyperbolic.
