Now there’s a third Benghazi movie in development

As everyone knows, the only thing more tragic than a deadly terrorist attack is letting a deadly terrorist happen without any movies being made about it. The 2012 attack on an American compound in Benghazi luckily avoided this fate when Michael Bay announced his Benghazi film, 13 Hourswhich recently added The Office’s David Denman to its weirdly sitcom-heavy cast. Then, following in the footsteps of World Trade Center—which came out a few months after United 93Fifty Shades Of Grey producer Dana Brunetti acquired the rights to tell the story of two Navy SEALs who died in the Benghazi attack. Suddenly, a thrilling competition to see who could make the best/most respectful/least tactless Benghazi movie was on!

However, another thing that everyone knows is that any story worth telling is worth telling three times, so now Alcon Entertainment has announced that it is also making a Benghazi movie. That comes from Deadline, which reports that Alcon’s project—based on a spec script titled Zero Footprint—is technically about the events leading up to the attack, and that it will apparently be “different from the others.” For example, the attack will only be “the last part of the third act,” and the story might focus on a single protagonist instead of a general account of the whole thing. Alcon’s Benghazi movie still needs a director, but we’re more excited to find out which actors will have the guts to take on the role of the villainous Hillary Clinton in all three of these movies.
