Now You See Me 2 screening evacuated, possibly due to magic emergency
According to Variety, a CinemaCon screening of Now You See Me 2 in Las Vegas had to be evacuated today due to a “potential threat.” Security personnel reportedly began telling the audience to leave the theater 15 minutes into the movie, initially explaining that there were “technical difficulties,” but CinemaCon’s John Fithian later explained that this potential threat “had to be taken seriously.” Apparently, the Las Vegas police were called in when a “suspicious package” was found near the theater, but they eventually determined that it wasn’t anything dangerous. By that point, though, it was “too late to restart the movie,” so those poor audience members were unable to enjoy the magic-related antics of Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Mark Ruffalo, and Lizzy Caplan.
Thankfully, though, there is a silver lining to this: Since nobody got hurt and there was no real threat, we can make jokes without feeling bad about it. Like, maybe they should’ve called the movie Now You Don’t. Get it? As in “now you see me, now you don’t.” It’s a magician thing, and the movie is about magicians. Alright, that joke isn’t very good, but there’s definitely something funny in this.
