Nuanced look at immigration coming from the co-creator of Two And A Half Men

Bringing the same subtle, sensitive approach to immigration issues that he did to gender relations on Two And A Half Men, series co-creator Lee Aronsohn is reportedly working on a new multi-camera sitcom, Totally Illegal, with ABC Studios. The project is based on the real-life experiences of producer Kelly Slattery, who moved to America as a blonde-haired, brown-eyed illegal Canadian immigrant, giving viewers a white person’s perspective on things for once. Slattery’s onscreen avatar, like Slattery herself, will move in with a Mexican-American family with deep roots in the U.S., presumably prompting a lot of laughs, a lot of heart, at least one quinceañera mishap, and the discovery that poutine and nachos aren’t so different after all.
