Oberst to release solo record

If you always assumed that Bright Eyes was essentially a Conor Oberst solo project think again. The man is putting out a bona fide solo record in August, his first release under his own name in 12 years. And in case anyone misses the utter soloness of the record, Oberst is calling it Conor Oberst. Actually, he's not going it totally alone. A special band called the Mystic Valley Band was assembled for the album's sessions this past winter in Mexico. Judging by some live bootlegs circulating on the Web, the new songs sound pretty darn good. So be on the look out when the album drops Aug. 4.
