Obits, Rick Froberg’s most recent band, are done for

Obits, the latest project from singer and guitarist Rick Froberg, have broken up. The group released three albums over the past nine years, including 2009’s I Blame You and 2011’s Moody, Standard And Poor. The group posted the news on its Facebook page, saying it was “lucky to have a good run” but that “the bar is closed,” noting that, despite the date, the announcement wasn’t an April Fool’s prank.

Rick Froberg was previously in the bands Pitchfork, Rocket From The Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, and Hot Snakes, all of which are pretty much defunct. He’s also a visual artist and illustrator, having created a lot of the merch and materials for RFTC pal John Reis’ Swami Records label.
