Obnoxious band pretends to be fancy with allusion
You wouldn't know it to listen to them, but Fall Out Boy must be classy and thoughtful. Otherwise they wouldn't be taking their new album's title, Infinity On High, from a letter by Vincent Van Gogh. NME relays the MTV News story (which will spew unwelcome flash and videos and audio at you, so I'm not linking to it):
Speaking to MTV.COM, bassist and lyricist Pete Wentz was reluctant to explain the title's significance, saying: "As for what that means in relation to the record, we'll just let it unfold when people hear it."
But maybe the whole allusion thing will gradually become accepted as a mark of dubious quality.
