Of course Jared Leto wants to play the Joker in Ben Affleck’s Batman movie
Get ready for more tales of Method madness, because Jared Leto is not going to let go of this Joker thing. According to a new interview with The Toronto Sun, Leto hopes that Suicide Squad is just first of many appearances he’ll make as the green-haired psychopath. Specifically, he seems to be angling for a role in Ben Affleck’s Batman movie. “I think it would be incredible to see Batman and the Joker go head-to-head!” he told the Sun. “This Batman and this Joker. I mean, I don’t know, that might be too much! But that would be fun.” Wherever he is, Affleck is probably currently rolling his eyes and drafting a text to Matt Damon about how annoying that would be. (“Bro,” Affleck writes, “I just really don’t want him to send me any used condoms. I’m still recovering from the Batman V Superman reviews and Deflategate.”)
Given that Suicide Squad hasn’t been released yet—the movie is due out Friday—it’s yet to be seen whether fans actually enjoy Leto’s take on the iconic character. But, why listen to other people when you’ve found your life’s calling? “Because I could easily just play the Joker a couple more times and then retire,” Leto explained. “Because it’s so fulfilling and so creative and it’s so imaginative. It’s really difficult to think about doing anything else!” Have the other members of 30 Seconds To Mars been informed?
