Official trailer for P.T. Anderson’s Inherent Vice thinks maybe you should just look the other way

For a movie without a single superhero or Star War, Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice is a surprisingly big deal. Alright, so it’s not really surprising at all when you consider that Anderson also directed There Will Be Blood, and also that Inherent Vice is an adaptation of a Thomas Pynchon novel, and also that it stars Joaquin Phoenix, but still. Not a single superhero!

We had previously been treated to three whole seconds of Inherent Vice thanks to a promo for the New York Film Festival, but now Warner Bros. has released an actual trailer for the movie. It shows plenty of Phoenix’s stoner detective Doc, as well as pretty much every other famous person ever, but there doesn’t seem to be any sign of Pynchon himself—who will apparently make a rare cameo appearance in the movie. We wouldn’t really know what he looks like anyway, though. Inherent Vice will be in theaters this December, which only gives us a few months to obsessively watch this trailer over and over again.
