Oh hell, let's all cocoon ourselves in Making It’s crafting barn
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Tuesday, August 28. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
Making It (NBC, 10:01 p.m.): We at The A.V. Club work ahead when possible, so we can make sure to get you all these juicy TV nuggets in a timely manner. Sorry if that destroys the magic for you, but we’re not feverishly hitting send on these missives at 11:59 p.m. (at least, most of the time we’re not). All that is to say that we have no idea what garbage will have happened in the news by the time you read this, but it’s a safe bet that at least something will be garbage. As such, might we suggest a nice, leisurely stay in Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman’s crafting barn? Making It is just so nice, and often very funny, and it sounds like just what the doctor ordered. And hey, it got renewed last week, so what better time to cuddle up with some crafters?
Wild card
Hermione Granger And The Quarter Life Crisis: Our friends at The Takeout sent a muggle (well, a No-Maj) to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to sample the local culinary options in Hogsmeade. That’s what led to our discovery of this webseries from creator Eliyannah Amirah Yisrael. It stars Ashley Romans as the titular Hogwarts prodigy, is pretty damn charming (get it? Charming? Charms class? No? Moving on), and, like the little Potter play currently running on Broadway, presents Hermione as a black woman (accio representation). Its second season returns September 19, so you’ve got plenty of time to catch up.
