Oh yeah, The OA is back!

Oh yeah, The OA is back!

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

The OA (Netflix, Friday): One of Netflix’s most mystifying and ambitious ventures, The OA took us to different realities, gave us more questions than it answered, and inspired many a Reddit thread when it debuted two years ago. Now, its second season opens in a grim reality where Obama was never president, and where its titular lead leads a different life as a Russian heiress and is once again in Hap’s clutches. Season one left us in a state of bewilderment, and based on this season’s trailer, it’s safe to say we can expect another eight episodes of otherworldly, genre-melding, mind-bending mystery. Alex McLevy is ready to offer his own interpretation.

Regular coverage

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (The CW, Friday, 9 p.m.)
Saturday Night Live (NBC, Saturday, 11:30 p.m.)

Wild card

Funny Women Of A Certain Age (Showtime, Saturday, 9 p.m.): These female comics have seen a lot. They’ve worked in the entertainment industry during the ’70s and ’80s. They’ve toured the country while also raising infant children. They’ve dealt with the unwanted advances of creeps backstage. Now, they’ve been given a comedy special all their own, and they have a lot to say.
Headed by comedian/actress/diplomat/author/cancer survivor/activist/true hero Fran Drescher and supported by Carole Montgomery, Luenell, Lynne Koplitz, Kerri Louise and Vanessa Hollingshead, Funny Women Of A Certain Age gives the floor to brilliant, deserving comics who are all too often cast aside by the entertainment industry.
