OITNB’s Lauren Lapkus joins Will Ferrell’s Sherlock Holmes comedy
It’s understandable to have some mixed feelings about Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly’s upcoming Holmes & Watson. After all, Step Brothers was great, but Step Brothers wasn’t based on material that has already been adapted approximately 25,000 times. However, we now have one data point that nudges the project’s potential away from hoary and toward intriguing: Lauren Lapkus has been added to the cast.
If that comedian’s name doesn’t ring a bell, her face might. She seems to be popping up all over the place these days, but you’re most likely to recognize her as Fischer, the sweet and gangly CO from Orange Is The New Black. She also has her own podcast, With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus, on the Earwolf network.
The 31-year-old Chicago native will reportedly play Millie, a woman capable of matching wits with the famous British private detective, which apparently will lead to some sort of romance and/or obsession. If she is a romantic lead, this could potentially be a breakout role for Lapkus.
