On second thought, Mickey Rourke still thinks Passion Play is terrible
Mickey Rourke has pulled an unusual double-reverse candor flip on his new very-limited-release, mostly-straight-to-DVD movie Passion Play, the story of a jazz man, his peepshow angel, her gangster heavy, and a ton of other student-film noir clichés that sound more intriguing than they ought to simply because they involve Mickey Rourke, Megan Fox, and Bill Murray. As you may recall, Rourke recently trashed the project during a moment of party-enabled weakness, then apologized for his remarks by blaming it on being “in a shitty mood” and not wanting to be interviewed. Still, perhaps realizing by now that all publicity is good publicity, particularly when it’s a poorly reviewed movie about a wandering trumpeter rescuing an angel from the mob, Rourke has gone back to condemning it: After a New York Observer reporter told him he was looking forward to Passion Play, Rourke responded, “You shouldn’t be. It’s terrible… I don't know if you'd even want to watch a slideshow of that.” And so it is that Mickey Rourke’s crazy mind games have really made us want to check out Passion Play.
