Once again, Forbes declares Adam Sandler the Most Overpaid Actor

Celebrities may be the best kind of people, since they hit that sweet spot of being both rich and famous, but some celebrities are just a bit too rich and famous for their own good. For them, simply being adored by the public isn’t enough. They have to be paid millions and millions of dollars just for garbage people like us to have the privilege of adoring them, all while knowing that they’ll die if we suddenly stop giving them their precious attention. All of this is a roundabout way of saying that some actors get paid a lot of money to be in movies, those movies don’t always make a lot of money in return, and Forbes is here with its annual list of Most Overpaid Actors to tell you which famous people get paid the most money to make the least money. Got it? Good.

Topping the list, for the second year in a row, is none other than Adam Sandler. Bolstered by the lack of success for his latest vacation excuse, Blended, Forbes says Sandler only pulled in $3.20 for every $1 that studios paid him. That’s actually worse than last year, when the relative popularity of films like Jack And Jill bumped him to a whopping $3.40 for every $1 he was paid. Presumably, Sandler will be devastated by this news and will vow to make better vacation choices in the future.

Johnny Depp came in at a fairly distant second on the list—returning $4.10 for every $1—and Ben Stiller came in third—$4.80 for every $1. Tom Hanks, Will Ferrell, and Ben Affleck also make appearances, which suggests that—Sandler aside—the list is more about which celebrities get paid a lot than it is about which celebrities don’t have the draw that studios think they do. Like, come on, everybody loves Tom Hanks. He couldn’t possibly be overpaid to do anything.

Surprisingly, though, the list only features one woman this year: Sandra Bullock, who makes $9 for every $1 she gets paid. That probably means that either movies with women in them are more successful, or Bullock just gets paid worse than her similarly famous male colleagues. The latter is probably true, and we know women are just as lovable as Tom Hanks, so we’re gonna say it’s a bit of both. Either way, it seems like people give Adam Sandler way too much money.
