Once again, Jennifer Lawrence tops Forbes’ list of highest-paid actresses

For the second year in a row, Jennifer Lawrence has found herself sitting on Forbes’ golden throne and wielding the magic scepter of box office glory, because she has just been named the highest-paid actress of 2016. Though she’s still the best, her overall take of $46 million is slightly down from last year’s $52 million—meaning she can only afford a slightly smaller number of rocket cars. According to the Forbes story, most of Lawrence’s money this year came from her getting a chunk of the profits from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 2 and a huge payday for her upcoming sci-fi love story Passengers.

Scarlett Johansson took second place last year, but this time she’s been busted by Melissa McCarthy, who reportedly got an “eight-figure payday” for Ghostbusters. She’s also the “biggest dollar gainer year over year,” leaping up $10 million from her 2015 spot. Johansson, meanwhile, was bumped down to a dismal third, which makes us think she should try and argue for a raise before the next Avengers movie comes out.

The full list also features Jennifer Aniston, Indian actress Deepika Padukone, Mila Kunis, and Julia Roberts. You can see all of the names for yourself in a wonderfully convenient and efficient slideshow at this link.
