Once Upon A Time vies for the heart of Henry
Because The A.V. Club knows that TV shows keep going even if we’re not writing at length about them, we’re experimenting with discussion posts. For certain shows, one of our TV writers will publish some brief thoughts about the latest episode, and open the comments for readers to share theirs.
- Kudos to Lana Parilla for playing not only Regina and the Evil Queen, but the Evil Queen posing as Regina. Makes sense that Rumple would be the only one to catch on right away.
- It should be in Robert Carlyle’s contract that he has to toss out at least one “dearie” per episode.
- Maybe an entire episode devoted to Henry seems like a clunker. Still, you gotta like the twist of Henry smashing the mirror instead of the Dragon’s heart. Also, nice CGI dragon, a shoutout not only to Sleeping Beauty but Aladdin.
- Donovan’s “Colours” is about the most inspiring song this show has selected, to depict Snow and Charming’s current predicament. Their split-screen makes them more likable than they’ve been in a long time.
