Ornette Coleman wins a Pulitzer

First the honor of presenting Carrie Underwood with a best new artist Grammy and now this: Free jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman has won the Pulitzer Prize. Coleman won for the 2005 live album Sound Grammar, marking the first time a recording has taken home a music Pulitzer. According to NPR, Coleman's music was not among the 140 music nominees. Pulitzer panelists bucked traditional rules by purchasing the CD and nominating Coleman. Good work, Ornette. Looks like some of that Underwood credibility rubbed off on you.
