Ouija sequel scares off Ring sequel
Looks like audiences aren’t the only ones scared by Ouija: Origin Of Evil. Deadline reports that Paramount is moving Rings from October 28 to February 3, 2017, leaving Ouija as the undisputed Halloween movie. That bodes well for the Mike Flanagan-directed thriller, as the previous installment rode its stats as the only big-budget horror movie out on Halloween 2014 all the way to the bank.
Paramount’s horror division seems to be faring about as well as the teenager who decides to see what that noise is coming from the basement, as Rings is being pushed back for the second time—it was originally slated for April—and its Friday the 13th reboot is being moved from January 13 to the next available Friday the 13th, in October of next year. At least they’re getting a scary movie out around Halloween.
