Our book-by-book group Sandman discussion resumes January 15 with Brief Lives

Remember Back Issues, our book-discussion feature where two staffers discuss a graphic novel series one book at a time, then open up a conversation with our readers? We’re currently working our way through Neil Gaiman’s classic fantasy series Sandman. The feature took a break for the holidays, but will return on Tuesday, with our comics writers Noel Murray and Oliver Sava breaking down Sandman book seven, Brief Lives, in which Dream and Delirium take a road trip together, with different goals in mind. The discussion starts with a question of whether Delirium—the Sandman-universe embodiment of madness, whom Gaiman based on his friend Tori Amos—is endearing or annoying, and why it’s okay if she’s both. Read up, catch up, and join us on January 15 as we continue examining Gaiman’s landmark series page by page together.
