The A.V. Club has already hailed M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit as a creative comeback, so what better to discuss in this week’s Film Club than exactly that. As an unabashed Shyamalan fan, Ignatiy Vishnevetsky attempts to convince film editor A.A. Dowd of the genuine artistry in the writer-director’s works, while Dowd counters that style doesn’t always account for substance. As they go back and forth in Chicago’s Star Lounge, the pair discuss the high points of Shyamalan’s filmography, and how the ubiquitous found-footage horror genre can be given new life.
