According to a report in the Guardian, the copy of John Lennon & Yoko Ono's Double Fantasy signed by the ex-Beatle for Mark David Chapman — who repaid the kindness by shooting Lennon in the back — is now available for sale.
The owner of the album, which at one point was a key piece of evidence in Chapman's murder trial, is understandably choosing to remain anonymous, meaning that the Ghoulish Prick of the Year award for 2010 might go unclaimed. Whoever it is, he's asking $850,000 for the LP, which is $849,986.45 more than it costs on Amazon, but with the added bonus of making you a terrible person. By selling the record for profit, the owner has staked a moral position even lower than Lennon's murderer: Chapman offered, if it was returned to him, to auction it off and donate the proceeds to a children's charity.
