Ozzy Osbourne biopic finally in the works, insists always-reliable Sharon Osbourne

Considering she sometimes seems to exist solely as a Tron-like entity within a matrix of press releases, we’ve become conditioned to automatically discount a lot of the things Sharon Osbourne says. However, she insists that the biopic about husband Ozzy Osbourne she’s been talking about for nearly eight years now is already headed into production with a full studio pick-up. “There’s about to be a big announcement,” she said during a recent Celebrity Apprentice event. “We have a producer and we have lots of money and we’re all starting.”

While Sharon had been pushing for Johnny Depp to play Ozzy—because obviously!—as far back as 2002, the one thing we can be sure of is that Depp is definitely not involved. But that hasn’t stopped Sharon from suggesting other members of her dream cast, namely An Education star Carey Mulligan to play her. Failing that, she thinks her daughter Kelly might be just as good—“She’s a mini me,” she says—which probably makes Carey Mulligan feel awesome. Of course, all of this is speculative until we get an actual, official announcement from someone who is not Sharon Osbourne, but this is definitely the boldest public statement regarding an Ozzy biopic yet. Let the speculative casting begin!
