P.T. Anderson: Back In Action!
Fresh from placing two films on our Best Of The '00s list, A.V. Club favorite P.T. Anderson is reportedly making plans to return to the director's chair. Anderson's working on a script tentatively called The Master, about a '50s intellectual who becomes a spiritual leader, and his relationship with a younger protégé. The role of the younger man has yet to be cast, but Anderson has his old buddy Philip Seymour Hoffman on board to play L. Ron Hubb… er, The Master. The project may begin shooting under the auspices of Universal Studios next year, pending final script approval. (And then I can finally dust off that long-shelved blog post about the significance of father-son relationships in Anderson's films. So there's something else to anticipate.)
