Parents Television Council would like butts to be served a la carte, please
Parents Television Council, the totally reasonable watchdog group that’s constantly thinking of the children—won’t somebody please think of the children?!—is upset about last week’s Sons Of Anarchy, which featured a lengthy montage of softcore butts pictured mid-coitus. The opening scene of last week’s episode featured just about every major character gettin’ in on in one way or another, from Jax doin’ it with a Tara lookalike to Juice getting prison-raped by Marilyn Manson to Wendy enjoying some sort of buzzing device under the covers. The PTC is using the scene as a reason to push for a la carte cable-TV options, in which concerned buyers could pay only for the channels whose morals they agree completely with. (My picks: QVC, truTV, and is Spice Channel still a thing?) This is nothing new for the PTC, which actually made a similar protest around a Sons episode last year, and which makes lists of family-friendly advertisers on a regular basis. They’ve also gotten mad about that bullying movie that nobody saw and Kesha drinking her own pee which, in fairness, we were all pretty jarred by. The group, via a statement reported on by THR, is pushing for FX to become a premium channel, so that end-users can vote with their wallets and still have access to Nick Jr. or ABC Family or whatever it is they feel okay watching. In the meantime, they will continue to represent the only people in the country who use the parental-control features on their cable system.
