Parker Posey Gets The Laugh Track She Never Wanted
Along with "What is the meaning of life?" and "So you think you can dance?" one of life's more tantalizing questions is, "Do parallel universes exist, and if they do what is Parker Posey up to in those universes?"
Here, in this universe, Parker Posey is the "indie actress", and, occasionally, the "indie actress cast as a sidekick in a mainstream film." But in a parallel universe, Posey could be anything: a waitress, a meter maid, Zooey Deschanel, Joey Fatone.
She could even be a sitcom actress, hemmed in on all sides by multiple cameras, mediocre jokes, sets that look like cast-offs from 'Suddenly Susan, and a laugh track. But considering this trailer for Fox's upcoming The Return Of Jezebel James, that is more of a this universe reality than a weird parallel universe possibility:
I hope that every episode of this series features at least one character saying about Lauren Ambrose, "I want her to have my babies," just so Posey can deliver that killer zinger, "Get in line!" Or possibly a well-placed, sing-songy, "Awwwwk-ward!"
I can't prove it, but I think that a parallel universe Amy Sherman-Palladino wrote this and then threw it onto our side of the looking glass. That's the only explanation I can come up with for its existence.
