Parker Posey to re-team with Woody Allen
Parker Posey is having a good year. Along with her regular appearances on Granite Flats, the indie-film veteran has appeared in starring roles in Hal Hartley’s Ned Rifle and Jonathan Parker’s upcoming The Architect. And after costarring with Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone in Woody Allen’s latest film, Irrational Man, the venerable director has cast Posey in his next film as well.
Now, if Woody Allen is infamous for one thing, it’s secrecy surrounding his projects. (We’re pretty sure that’s the one thing he’s infamous for.) So there’s no word on a title or plot, but Posey joins a cast that now includes Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart, and unlikely Allen collaborator Bruce Willis. Given the director’s breakneck schedule, it’s a safe bet to hit theaters next year.
Throughout his history, Allen keeps returning to the same actresses, most recently casting Scarlett Johansson in three out of the four movies he made between 2005 and 2008. Posey’s still got a long way to go to qualify as one of Allen’s muses—Mia Farrow starred in 11 consecutive Allen pictures between 1982’s A Midsummer Night’s Sex Comedy and 1990’s Alice, and 13 overall—but if history’s any guide, she could have some job security to look forward to.
