Parody Walk The Line Trailer Is Somehow An Entire Movie

If there's one thing that we can all look forward to, while at the same time feel an encroaching sense of fatigue about, it's that every comedy that looks halfway decent in the coming months will have some kind of well-publicized attachment to Judd Apatow.

But not every somewhat promising comedy will feature Jack White as Elvis. Walk Hard, the upcoming Jake Kasdan-directed, deadpan parody of Walk The Line, has both: the requisite Apatow attachment (he co-wrote it), and White's karate-chopping Elvis impersonation.

It also happens to be the only parody Walk The Line trailer that has ever been stretched out into an entire, 90-minute parody movie:

I don't know how to feel about this movie. On the one hand, music biopics are glorified Lifetime movies that are ripe for parody, and there are some funny moments in this trailer, as well as some funny people. But on the other hand, genre parody movies are pretty hit (Wet Hot American Summer, some Mel Brooks movies) or miss (Epic Movie, anything involving the Wayans).

In any case, I think Judd Apatow's next project should be a parody of a parody movie, so that when the universe folds in on itself it can also be advertised as "From the creators of Knocked Up and 40-Year-Old Virgin!"
