Patton Oswalt and Johnny Knoxville will play brothers
Patton Oswalt and Johnny Knoxville—the neurotic ego and injured-crotch id of comedy—will play out that dichotomy by starring as brothers in a forthcoming, untitled comedy to be executive produced by David Gordon Green, according to a press release from independent film producers Big Beach (Away We Go, Our Idiot Brother). Writer-director Todd Rohal originally wrote the script under the name Scout Master, a title scrapped perhaps because of its pedophilic implications, or just because it doesn’t properly characterize a plot about two squabbling siblings whose efforts to honor their father involve taking a Boy Scout troop on a camping trip. As with most movie camping trips, it all goes awry, because otherwise it wouldn’t merit a movie. Who wants to watch Patton Oswalt and Johnny Knoxville have a perfectly nice time camping? That’s not a script you’re going to sell. Anyway, Maura Tierney also fits in there somewhere, while Rob Riggle and Patrice O’Neal round out the comic ensemble—making this sort of like a post-millennial update of The Wrong Guys, but with the inherent comedy of Johnny Knoxville and Patton Oswalt hailing from the same testicles.
