Patton Oswalt to guest on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Last year, when comedian Patton Oswalt lit up the Internet with an outrageous Star Wars filibuster on Parks And Recreation that managed to tie the sci-fi series with Marvel’s Avengers movies, he stopped just short of finding a way to insert himself into the insanity. Luckily, Marvel itself has come along to pick up the slack.

As announced on Marvel’s official site, Oswalt will be joining Coulson, Fitz, Simmons, and the rest on an upcoming episode of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Eric Koenig. In the comics, Koenig is an ex-Nazi who joined up with Nick Fury’s Howling Commandoes when he realized that Hitler was kind of an asshole. That means we’re either going to get a wacky time travel/flashback episode, or the show will just update Koenig into a more contemporary character. Oswalt himself, perhaps a bit self-deprecatingly, theorized that casting him as Koenig was just a cover so he could play the giant evil head thing M.O.D.O.K., but that’s likely not the case.

Either way, Patton Oswalt will soon officially be a part of Marvel’s movie universe, so there’s a good chance we might see him hanging out with Captain America and Thor in Age Of Ultron. Unless he really is M.O.D.O.K., which would be awesome.
