Patton Oswalt to voice nerdy equine on My Little Pony’s Comic-Con episode
It seems reasonable to assume that on the desks of Hollywood casting directors there lies a post-it note labeled “Nerd Cameos,” bearing the names Patton Oswalt, John Hodgman, and Wil Wheaton. In this particular instance, it was Oswalt’s agent who got the call. The 47-year-old old comedian will be guesting on the upcoming mid-season premiere of Discovery Family’s animated series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The episode, titled “Stranger Than Fan Fiction,” will see series regular Rainbow Dash attend a Comic-Con-like convention in “Manehattan” in support of the adventure hero Daring Do. Once there, she will get the full convention-going experience, including a run-in with a contentious geek pony named Quibble Pants who is intent on tearing down the flying pony she loves. As if it even needed to be stated, that geek pony will be voiced by Oswalt. He seems pretty stoked for it:
This equine character will presumably bear a closer resemblance to Garth Blundin—the argumentative geek human whom Oswalt played on Parks and Recreation—than it will to the Koenig triplets, the adoring geek humans whom he plays on Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The Comic-Con-themed episode is scheduled to air on July 30, one week after the human-centric San Diego Comic-Con finishes up.
