Paul Feig catches his Ghostbusters on a bad day
Paul Feig, director of the 2016 edition of Ghostbusters, certainly seems excited about the upcoming film. Over the past few weeks, he’s been enthusiastically tweeting pictures of all the neat toys his cast gets to play with, like their uniforms, their proton packs (complete with geeky diagrams), and even their car. But he’s not the one who has to actually put on those stuffy jumpsuits and heavy packs and drive that piece of junk around Boston on a hot, stinky afternoon in July.
Perhaps that’s why Feig’s first photo of the cast in costume—which, like the other photos, he released on Twitter earlier today—shows the Ghostbusters looking kind of fatigued. Leslie Jones is mugging for the camera, but Melissa McCarthy looks like her patience is about to run out, Kristen Wiig is similarly serious, and Kate McKinnon has a sarcastic grin on her face. Maybe this is reflective of their characters, or maybe it just smells like hot garbage wherever they’re standing. Summer is like that.
