Paul Haggis may bring his unique insights into racial tension to The Equalizer

The big-screen version of the Edward Woodward-starring ‘80s vigilante series The Equalizer continues to be a thing, with The Hollywood Reporter now saying that director Paul Haggis is currently negotiating to take over as director. If he signs on, Haggis would join already-attached star Russell Crowe—whom Haggis just directed in the upcoming Days—and presumably imbue the story of a former secret agent who’s out to clean up the streets with the same gripping inner-city realism he brought to Crash, and give Crowe a living tableaux of simplistic modern-day race parables to punch in the face.
