Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler fall down a lot in the trailer for They Came Together
They Came Together might not be the Wet Hot American Summer sequel the world has long hungered for, but it’s the closest thing we’re going to get for the time being. The David Wain-directed rom-com spoof stars Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd as a couple going through the ups and downs of meeting, dating, then trying to stay together, and while that whole rigmarole might sound a little tired, in this gang’s hands, it’s absolutely not. The cast of comedic thousands (Bill Hader! Christopher Meloni! Ken Marino! Kenan Thompson! Cobie Smulders! Ellie Kemper! And a bunch of other people!) helps Rudd and Poehler through some zany situations, like romping in fall leaves that just happen to be hiding a dead body, exploring some tandem Ben Franklin costuming, and a whole bunch of ridiculous pratfalls. The trailer says They Came Together is for those who “love love stories”—but, really, it also looks like it’s for anyone that loves Rudd, Poehler, Wain, or any sort of ridiculous romp.
