Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan to play a bickering couple living in An Ideal Home
Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan are coming together for a movie marriage match forged in deadpan, sarcastic heaven (where all the angels really love how that halo looks atop your head). The two will be play a bickering same-sex couple in An Ideal Home, a new film from Andrew Fleming, Coogan’s director on the underappreciated Hamlet 2. The pair’s characters—extravagant Erasmus (Coogan) and meek Paul (Rudd)—live in a banter-filled equilibrium, thrown off balance when a dinner party is crashed by Coogan’s unmet grandson from a past relationship.
Freed from the purgatorial doldrums of Showtime’s Happyish, Coogan has lined up a number of new projects in the last few months; a new Alan Partridge show is supposedly in the works, and he’s been tapped to play Stan Laurel opposite John C. Reilly in the BBC’s biopic Stan And Ollie. Rudd, meanwhile, seems to be enjoying his induction into the Marvel Superheroes Club, soon to reprise his role as Ant-Man in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.
