Paul W.S. Anderson’s Three Musketeers casts heroes and villains

Recently we told you two adaptations of the Alexandre Dumas novel The Three Musketeers were in the works, one from Bourne Identity director Doug Liman, the other from videogame adaptation auteur Paul W.S. Anderson. Anderson’s 3D treatment, slated to shoot this September, is hot out of the gate now, having cast its heroes and villains, according to The Hollywood Reporter, including Euro-villain of the moment Christoph Waltz as Cardinal Richelieu. Fencing for the heroes will be Logan Lerman as d’Artagnan, a young man who trains with the titular three musketeers to become a member of the Guard, and later becomes entangled in the Huguenot rebellions with Milady de Winter, a seductive and duplicitous spy of Richilieu’s tasked with the assassination of the Duke of Buckingham. Joining Waltz are Mads Mikkelsen as Rochefort, an agent of the Cardinal, and Milla Jovovich as Milady. The Duke of Buckingham has been offered to Orlando Bloom but he is not confirmed at this time. The eponymous musketeers will include Matthew Macfadyen as Aramis, Luke Evans as Athos, and Ray Stevenson as Porthos.
