Peach Kelli Pop makes it rain on “Hundred Dollar Bill”

When Peach Kelli Pop started, it was the name that Allie Hanlon ascribed to herself while writing buzzy garage-pop songs in Ottawa. Since then Peach Kelli Pop has relocated to Los Angeles, released a trio of self-titled records and a handful of EPs, and is prepping for its latest three-song 7-inch, Halloween Mask. The EP is due out April 29 via Lauren Records—and is available for pre-order now—but The A.V. Club is streaming “Hundred Dollar Bill” ahead of the 7-inch’s release. It’s a track that shows Hanlon’s knack for writing power-pop songs that pack a punch, along with lyrics that effortlessly command attention. Of the song’s inspiration, Hanlon says:

“I wrote this after going to a bunch of strip clubs around Los Angeles. It’s a song from a woman’s perspective about how sexuality and power and money go hand in hand and can be interchangeable.”
