Pearl Jam "at least at the halfway point" on new album

Amid the flurry of recent activity in the Pearl Jam camp lately, the band has found time to get significant work done on a new record. Jeff Ament told Rolling Stone that Pearl Jam is "at least at the halfway point" on the album, which is produced by Brendan O'Brien and will be the band's 10th studio effort. "The first handful of songs we had are a great, great start," Ament said. "It's been really important for us that in the middle of all this, we got together and recorded a bunch of songs. It sort of gave us a breath to go, 'Okay, we can go back and get ready for the show and book and movie and all that stuff.'" Pearl Jam hopes to wrap the record by early 2012.
