Pearl Jam morphs into world's worst cover band for Barack Obama
Only Eddie Vedder knows whether he regrets supporting Ralph Nader in 2000, but it's a safe bet he's glad he steered clear of "Rock Around Barack," a pro-you-know-who song recorded by the rest of the band, with Stone Gossard taking over vocal duties. Surely, PJ has its heart in the right place if not its songwriting, which seems influenced more by the Hawaiian-shirted cover band playing at the sports bar Saturday night than, say, Neil Young and The Who. Says Gossard: "The rhythm of rock music and its energy were so overwhelming that traditional barriers of race and culture broke down with an enormous crash. So here's to new energy, rock and the breaking down of cultural barriers." Try out this "Rock Around The Clock" redux here.
