Pee-wee Herman will set off on his Big Holiday in March on Netflix

The wait for news on when the wait for the new Pee-wee Herman movie would be over is over: Netflix has just announced via press release that Pee-wee’s Big Holiday will premiere on March 18. The Judd Apatow-produced, John Lee-directed film is the first Pee-wee Herman feature in nearly 30 years, and was written by Paul Reubens and Paul Rust (who happens to be in Love with Apatow and Netflix). Pee-wee’s Big Holiday will reportedly follow the bowtie-wearing sexagenarian who, after having a “fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger,” is inspired to take his “first-ever holiday,” which is presumably a(nother) vacation and not an actual day of observance that may or may not involve bank closings.

Information on the project is still scant, though we do know that True Blood’s Tara Buck will play an as-yet-unknown part in the festive proceedings. Netflix’s date-announcement teaser is below, in case your nostalgia for Rube Goldberg machines and Glen plaid is already getting the better of you.
