Not long after Gossip Girl ended, Penn Badgley swore off acting, telling Wet Paint that there was absolutely nothing that could drag him back to TV. He’s sort of stuck to that promise, returning only for such great television events as The Slap, and the odd movie role. But now he’s heard the siren’s call once more, as TV Line reports he’ll star in Greg Berlanti’s stalker drama for Lifetime. The series, titled You, is billed as a “psychological thriller drama,” and will star Badgley as a bookstore owner who stalks an “aspiring writer” via social media and such. Berlanti’s adapting Caroline Kepnes’ 2015 novel of the same name, but while he’s got his obsessive creep lined up, there’s still no word on who will play the center of his attention. But You already has a straight-to-series order from Lifetime, so it looks like Badgley will be sticking around for a while.
