People Still Buy Music: Adele won't let go of No. 1 until you pry it from her cold, dead hand
For the 15th non-consecutive week (and nearly a year after it was released), Adele's 21 is No. 1 on this week's Billboard albums chart. It wasn't even a fight, with 21 selling 124,000 vs. 42,000 for the No. 2 seller, Drake's Take Care. Right behind Drake is the Black Keys, whose album El Camino moves up from No. 7 to No. 3. The only debut in the Top 10 this week—and in the Top 50, actually—is These Tiemes by the Oklahoma rock band SafetySuit, who land at No. 7 with 26,000 sold. Who is SafetySuit? Good question! We didn't know either until we saw this, which doesn't make us super intrigued to find out more.
The rest of the Top 10 includes Young Jeezy's TM103: Hustlerz Ambition (No. 4, 36,000), Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto (No. 5, 28,000), Rihanna's Talk That Talk (No. 6, 27,000), LMFAO Sorry For Party Rocking (No. 8, 25,000), Now 40 (No. 9, 24,000), and Florence + The Machine's Ceremonials (No. 10, 24,000).
On the digital songs chart, crooked hat enthusiast Jason Mraz is at No. 1 after selling 229,000 downloads of his new single "I Won't Give Up"—that's a promise, not a threat—in its first week. (A new album is due later this year.) Coming in at No. 2 is LMFAO, who moved 212,000 downloads of "Sexy And I Know It."
The remainder of the Top 10 is: Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" (No. 3, 203,000), Rihanna's "We Found Love" (No. 4, 185,000), Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" (No. 5, 168,000), LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" (No. 6, 164,000) Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Niggas In Paris" (No. 7, 163,000), Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa's "Young, Wild & Free" (No. 8, 160,000). Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" (No. 9, 154,000), and Bruno Mars' "It Will Rain" (No. 10, 154,000). [via Billboard]
