People Still Buy Music: Everyone’s still into the Frozen soundtrack
The Frozen soundtrack is about to meet the Titanic soundtrack on the Billboard charts like a giant, Disney-owned iceberg. According to the music publication, the Frozen soundtrack is on pace to top this week’s Billboard 200, giving the record its fifth straight week at No. 1. The last soundtrack to mark five weeks atop the charts was Titanic, which spent 16 straight weeks at No. 1 in 1998.
Since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking record sales for Billboard in 1991, only four soundtracks have spent at least five weeks in the top spot: Titanic, 1996’s Waiting To Exhale, 1994’s The Lion King, and 1992’s The Bodyguard. The last soundtrack to rack up four weeks atop the charts was 2003’s Bad Boys II.
