People Still Buy Music: Tim McGraw fails to slay the mighty Adele

If anybody thought country music superstar Tim McGraw might take over the No. 1 spot on the Billboard albums chart for at least one week with his (pretty decent!) new album Emotional Traffic, well, you can forget such silliness right now. Adele's 21 is a non-stop sales-acquiring dragon that will not be slayed: It stayed on top for another week with 116,000 sold. 21 was actually up from last week thanks to a new deluxe edition sold at Target stores. Emotional Traffic, meanwhile, was a distant No. 2, selling 68,000 units, or about half what McGraw's 2009 effort Southern Voice sold in its first week.

McGraw was one of several first-time charters in the Top 10. Also debuting this week are Lamb Of God, who land at No. 3 with 52,000 sold of Resolution; the 2012 Grammy Nominees compilation at No. 4 with 52,000, just slightly below Lamb Of God; singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, whose Human Again lands at No. 4 —her highest charting record ever—with 40,000 sold; country singer Kellie Pickler, who comes in at No. 7 and 27,000 sold of 100 Proof; Seal's Soul 2 comes in right behind her at No. 8, with 27,000 sold; and Christian singer Kari Jobe, whose Where I Find You charts at No. 10 with 25,000 sold.

The rest of the Top 10 includes Kidz Bop 21 (No. 6, 33,000) and Drake's Take Care (No. 9, 26,000).

Over on the digital songs chart, Kelly Clarkson finally takes the No. 1 spot with "Stronger," which rises from No. 3 with 225,000 sold. "Stronger" trades places with last week's No. 1, David Guetta's "Turn Me On," which now sits at No. 3 with 162,000.

The rest of the Top 10: Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" (No. 2, 167,000), Tyga's "Rack City" (No. 4, 142,000), Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa's "Young, Wild & Free" (No. 5, 128,000), Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" (No. 6, 121,000), Rihanna's "We Found Love" (No. 7, 114,000), LMFAO's Sexy and I Know It" (No. 8, 113,000), Jessie J's "Domino" (No. 9, 111,000), Pitbull's "International Love" (No. 10, 108,000).
