Pete Townshend unveils musical portrait machine

The Who fans out there know the story of the Who's Next album: Pete Townshend originally conceived it as Lifehouse, an ambitious but somewhat doomed concept album and vaguely utopian project that he's continued to chip away at for nearly 40 years now. Now he's realized one of Lifehouse's most far-flung ideas: The "Method," a machine that creates individual musical portraits of people. He unveiled it in London yesterday, according to Hollywood Reporter. Townshend's quoted as saying that the machine should, "in essence, close the book on the great lost project of Lifehouse, as a Who legendary non-event."
