Peter Hook to further cash in on Joy Division's legacy with a book
Peter Hook, embattled member of both Joy Division and New Order, is writing a book about his time with the former. Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division will be published by Simon And Schuster Oct. 1 and will feature the bassist’s side of the band’s story. In recent years, the remaining members of the group have been feuding with Hook, claiming that he’s cashing in on the group’s legacy. This book, combined with Hook’s recent solo tour homages to Closer and Unknown Pleasures, won’t do a lot to quell that, but according to Hook, this is how he’ll officially end the Joy Division chapter of his life. He’s described the memoir as a way to get closure, and that he hopes “this book puts my Joy Division demons to rest.” His New Order demons, on the other hand, are still very much alive.
