Peyton Manning, who’s probably just as well known for shilling products as he is for football at this point, has nabbed a dramatic role. Well, not dramatic in the sense that he’ll be tasked with doing anything particularly heavy, but at least he’s playing someone other than Super Bowl Champion Peyton Manning. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Manning has scored a role on Modern Family. He’ll be a character called “Coach Gary,” a “sports tutor” to Jay (Ed O’Neill) and Gloria (Sofia Vergara’s) son baby Joe. Per THR, “When Coach Gary also starts doing things around the house, Jay is left feeling a bit emasculated.” This certainly doesn’t exactly seem like a win for gender politics, but perhaps it will lead Manning down a new post-football career path that doesn’t involve the Nationwide jingle.
